The Main Difference
IPL and laser work through controlled damage. They heat or destroy a target—pigment, vessel, or part of the tissue—and the skin responds by repairing itself.
LED photobiomodulation works through stimulation without damage. It does not heat, does not destroy, and has no recovery period.

IPL
IPL (intense pulsed light) emits a broad spectrum with high energy. The light is absorbed by pigment or hemoglobin and converted into heat.
Strengths: pigment spots, dilated capillaries, hair removal. Weaknesses: risk of burns and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially on darker skin.
Laser
A laser emits a single, precise wavelength in a coherent beam. This makes it precise and powerful.
For deep wrinkles, acne scars, and serious skin restructuring, there is no home equivalent. If this is your goal, LED will not achieve it.
LED Photobiomodulation
Non-thermal, incoherent, with much lower energy. The effect is more moderate, but it accumulates over time and is achieved without risk and without downtime.
This is the trade-off: a smaller effect per procedure versus the ability to do it four times a week for years.
